Note from the Artist: This was an experimental piece. My younger sister, Stacey loves Sunflowers. Well she did as a child as every year mum would plant them and we would watch them grow into huge plants much rather like Jack and the Beanstalk. The flower heads would grow huge and hang over so heavy. I think we only managed to grow one perfect flower with all the petals intact and even. That year in 2007 we started to get worried as the flowers didn’t grow. The stalks were huge and were already starting to droop due to the weight of the flower head. So I decided to paint a retro version of them. And then all of a sudden we noticed on the last few weeks of summer the petals were out and the sunflowers had resumed to their glory.
